❗Stop the Nuisance... SLAJ is a composition of Professionals that are like minded and it's not for all Jack and Jean🙌🏾

By: Alusine Rehme Wilson - (AR-Wilson)✍️

My attention has been drawn to some group of  individuals parading social media with post bearing the name of our elite Association, on the pretext of flexing their fingers into an affair they are not entitled to.

Let me remind such individuals that SLAJ is a  professional body Endowed with like-minded and Multifaceted Personalities with the sole aim of elevating it's membership capacities and matching it's association to modern ones for the good of It's Members, and the voiceless fellow countrymen.

Inline with the above, as one amongst the barrage of the like-minded Members of our dearest Association, who is well grounded with the codes and ethics of practices of this noble profession of ours, I am on behalf of colleagues warning non-members of the Association to stop mimicking and poking into SLAJ related issues for we have reliable and legitimate leadership as lead regulators of our affairs.

Any non-member who may be found wanting of going against our darling modules and operandi will have no one to blame but him or herself should such gestures of theirs capture a wider attention of our membership.

However, let me notify and encourage non-members who are currently cub reporters or so to work on improving their capacities to be able to meet the SLAJ membership criteria and apply for membership when the Association shall deem it fit to open call for new admission.

To Colleague Members of our only SLAJ, please be reminded that as professionals Journalists: *"we should protect the interests of fellows"* and not to do other wise for enormous reasons unknown.

Note: Elections comes and go and it's not a now or never thing!

Stop the unnecessary blastfaming and baseless apple for sympathy from those who will not see during voting nor will they in anyway save you in such folds.

I urge intenders to rather go and study or continue to keenly glance the Constitution for better understanding on all including other related eligibilities, begin to meet your colleagues for consolation and solicit for prior support stop being nuisance and waiting your time online..

Forget not to pay your dues and breach not any of our admirable Association's rules too.

Sierra Leone, Two other Nations disqualified from AFCON 2024 U17 Qualifiers

By: Abdulrahman Barrie The U17 football teams from Sierra Leone, Guinea, and Guinea Bissau have been disqualified from the 2024 U17 African Cup of Nations competition in Senegal after failing the mandatory MRI test scans. These scans, which determine the age of the players, revealed discrepancies that led to their removal from the tournament. The disqualification follows changes to Article 27.4 of the U17 Africa Cup of Nations regulations, which have tightened the criteria and enforcement of age verification measures. The updated rules stipulate that if a team has more than four players deemed ineligible after the MRI eligibility test, the entire team will be disqualified. The MRI tests, used to enforce age restrictions in youth competitions, are crucial for ensuring fairness. Unfortunately, the teams from these three nations did not meet the age criteria, resulting in their disqualification. This decision has come as a significant disappointment for the young players and their fans, w...

Senegal, first African team to beat England, but not first to score three goals

By: Alusine Rehme Wilson Claim: Soccer World HQ, in a Facebook post , claimed that Senegal is the first African team to beat England and the first to score three goals against them. Verdict: Partly True! Senegal is the first African team to beat England, but not the first to score three goals against them. Full Text The England senior men’s national football team, nicknamed the “Three Lions,” played their first match against Scotland in 1872. That match ended goalless but marked the beginning of an intense soccer rivalry between both nations, dubbed the “Auld Enemy.” Since 1872-2025, the England national team has achieved its 1000-game milestone in November 2019 when they played Montenegro at the Wembley Stadium. England's all-time head-to-head record shows that they’ve played a whopping 1072 matches against 100 countries, won 615 games, drew 255, and lost 200. Senegal, on the other hand, is one of Africa’s most famous football nations, nicknamed the “Lions of Teranga.” In 2002, ...

Disturbing snail space Civil works in the Makeni Central Lorry park

By: Ibrahim Jalloh - (Jallomy) The Makeni City Council (MCC) ordered commercial vehicles and business entities to leave the park area for the purpose of upgrading the park. Two weeks were given as the duration of the work. Regrettably, a week plus few days have elapsed with no significant work done. Drivers and business people in the park are completely frustrated and their livelihoods threatened.  Few years ago, drivers and traders were asked out of the park for similar reason but after two weeks they were asked to return to the park with no work done. This was disrespectful and insulting.  We urge MCC to double their efforts as the affected persons are running out of patience.
