Augustus Kargbo scores his third pivotal goal for Sierra Leone in his 16th Appearance

A total of 31 months and 29 days have passed since Augustus Kargbo first stepped onto the national team stage for Sierra Leone on October 6, 2021, during a 1-1 draw against South Sudan that the young forward made his debut. Fast forward to now, Kargbo has proven himself once again by scoring the winning goal in a thrilling 2-1 victory over Djibouti in a 2026 World Cup qualifier. Men's WCQ 2026: Egypt solidify Group-A lead with 2-1 victory over Burkina Faso

By: Alusine Rehme Wilson  Men's 2026 WCQ Group-A current standings Record AFCON winners, Egypt, yesterday emulated Sierra Leone's winning pattern with a narrow 2-1 victory over Burkina Faso.  The hero of the night was forward Mahmoud Ahmed Ibrahim Hassan (Trezeguet), who scored a brace to secure the vital win for his team.  The decisive Group-A took place at the Cairo International Stadium, where the host started off by taking the lead within just three minutes, engineered by a brilliant partnership between the Egyptian captain Mohamed Salah and Trezeguet.  The home fans had barely stopped celebrating when Trezeguet struck again, scoring his second goal of the night just four minutes later to take his tally to five goals scored in three games played so far in the on-going 2026 World Cup qualifiers. Experienced Curtis Davis impressed in his Sierra Leone debut as Karim's Men narrowly defeated Djibouti

Goals from 39-year-old Curtis Davis and 24-year-old Augustus Kargbo secured a historic 2-1 victory for the Leone Stars of Sierra Leone  over Djibouti in the World Cup 2026 qualifiers. Davis, who was born in England but recently received clearance to represent Sierra Leone, made his debut for the national team under coach Amidu Karim during a match day-3 match held the El-Abdi stadium in Morocco on Wednesday evening. The experienced Davis wasted no time in making an impact by scoring the opening goal in the 12th minute, courtesy of a brilliant assist from Emmanuel Samadia. His early goal boosted the confidence and teamwork of the Leone Stars, who controlled possession for much of the first half.
