FC Kallon, Bo Rangers CAF Championships Preliminary qualification hunts continues today

By: Alusine Rehme Wilson  Sierra Leone’s representatives at the CAF Clubs and Champions Cup preliminary rounds qualifiers FC Kallon and Bo Rangers will continue their hunts to the qualifiers next round in Liberia and Algeria this Saturday. In the Liberia capital Monrovia, FC Kallon who collected all three points away last Saturday in Benin from the Buffles de Borgou who they defeated 0-1 will lock horns with the same opponents and a draw of a win for the host will see them advance to the next round of the CAF TotalEnergies Clubs cup preliminary round. On the other hand, reigning Sierra Leone Premier League Champions Bo Rangers Football Club will face CRB in Algeria in the return leg of the CAF TotalEnergies Champions League following their goalless draw at home last Saturday.  And the winner of the encounter will automatically progress to the next round of the continental champions club contest preliminary round.

​SLP Polio FC to face National Amputees team in Warm-up Match

By: Alusine Rehme Wilson  At the Carlton Playing Field this Friday, the Sierra Leone Police Polio Football Team will battle the National Amputees Football team in a warm-up encounter scheduled to kick-off at 4:30pm local time. The friendly encounter Awoko Newspaper have learned is a farewell match to be played in honor of Sierra Leonean International Amputee footballer Foday James Lumeh who’s due to return to his Turkish based football club after his six weeks long off season vacation in his home country. Both sides will be facing each other for the very first time in such a friendly match, and the momentum leading to the anticipated encounter is already high as both sides continues to gear up to look on Friday, 16th September, 2022. Bombali Safe Sister Fellow Edna Amie Delivers ToT Digital Safety, GBV to 20 Female Journalists, Activists

​By: Alusine Rehme Wilson At the Radio Marie Makeni Conference room, Edna Amie Ngeba, one of the 2022 InterNews Safe Sister Fellows has on Thursday, successfully schooled twenty Female Journalists and Activists in Bombali District on Digital Safety, Online Cyber Harassment and Gender Based Violence. The training according to Madam Ngeba is for rationally selected Activists and Journalists in Makeni city and other parts of Bombali District who will eventually serve as Trainers in their respective institutions and communities in a bid to further share the acquired knowledge from the training, also to raise the awareness of Female Journalists and Activists on digital safety to let them stay safe online at all times. She expressed delights for being one of the 13 Safe Sister/InterNews Fellows who received intensive online training on digital safety for four months and has been able to understand that 68% of Women are either victimized or discriminated against in cyberspace. “Rolling out th...
