By: Abdul Malik Bangura The week of January 17 through February 23rd was scheduled to do a follow-up sustainability inspection tour of the 9-year EWB Project at Centennial School in Mattru Jong, Bonthe District.   The EWB team toured to inspect technical challenges Check Up: Tom Power and Chiara Dooley also went to Centennial and gave them soccer uniforms. The EWB Mission is to Partner with Developing Communities, Implement sustainable Engineering Solutions to improve Quality of Life, and Promote Globally Aware Engineers and Students. The EWB Lehigh Valley Professionals’ 5-year Mission at Centennial Secondary School, for sustainable infrastructure for education. WAFU Tournament in Sierra Leone Underway

By: Alusine Rehme Wilson – (AR-WILSON) The draw for the Zone-A West Africa Football Union (WAFU), Women’s championship 2020 took place on Saturday night, February 8 at the prestigious Radisson Blu Hotel in Freetown, with eight confirmed participating nations divided into two groups. Sierra Leone, the host nation of this maiden edition has confirmed the two provincial cities of Bo and Makeni, the second and third largest cities in the country as the venues where the games will be played from while the final will be played at the country’s main stadium in Freetown. Meanwhile, group-A matches will be played at the Bo mini stadium in the southern city of Bo while group-B matches will take place at the Makeni sports complex in the northern city of Makeni. Earlier, ignorance overwhelmed a segment of the citizenry, who categorically questioned and criticized the canonic legality and moral quality of the wedding.  As the wedding closed in, the Chief Catholic Shepherd in Sierra Leone, His Grace Bishop Tamba Charles corrected the wrong perception and resoundingly endorsed the intention and preparation of President Bio to give sacramental character to the long standing relationship between him and Madam Fatima Bio.  President Bio is a Catholic Christian from birth. THE LATE JOE BEN TAYLOR –TRIBUTE

On the 8th of April 1927, Joe Ben Taylor was born in a humble home in Dombokoh village, Bonthe Island, Southern Province of the republic of Sierra Leone. His father Tommy Taylor was a carpenter by profession while his mother Musu Taylor, a housewife. Joe Ben Taylor started his primary education at the Catholic Saint Patrick’s Primary in Bonthe, where he attained standard six educations in 1943. He was later employed as a pupil teacher at the saint Patrick’s School Bonthe. In 1945, J.B. Taylor as he was commonly known left Bonthe Island for Matru Jong and stayed with his uncle Pa Alphan Conteh after being appointed Headmaster at the Roman Catholic Primary School in Mania Sattia Chiefdom Bonthe District. This was his post, he honorably declined. J.B. Taylor left Mattru Jong for Bo Town, Kakua Chiefdom in the Bo District in 1948, and was enrolled as a student in the Catholic Training College, Bo (CTC) for the pursuit of the Teacher Certificate. By: Sahr James Bangah At a well-attended ceremony in Pepel in the Kamasondo chiefdom, PortLoko District, thousands of supporters gathered on Sunday 16th February 2020 to publicly declare their support to democratically vote Alpha Ibrahim Kabba AKA “the Hero”for the Kamasondo chieftaincy election as stipulated by the Local Government schedule. On behalf of Kamasondo chiefdom stakeholders, Councilor Saidu Abass Bangura said Aspirant Alpha Ibrahim Kabba is the rightful son of the chieftaincy throne and has spent his resources and energy to make sure Kamasondo be de-amalgamated from the Lokomasama chiefdom. He revealed that during trial times, he was the sacrificial lamb and makes frantic efforts to make sure the chiefdom becomes independent, noting out that his frantic efforts prompted the successful de-amalgamation process to take into effect.
