Kamara Let’s face it… Far too often, we point fingers at our national coaches for Leone Stars’ failures, but we most importantly fail in our consciences to accept that; structural issues, poor team management, inadequate infrastructure, and an uncompetitive player composition add significant problems to our country’s national team underperformance. We expect quick results, yet rarely pause to question the foundation our football is built on. Blaming the coach is easy, but rarely do we reflect on the bigger picture or the broader problems plaguing Sierra Leone’s football. While coaches are instrumental in leading our national teams, the quality of the squads and the drive for performance are paramount. Ivory Coast Overpowers Sierra Leone 4-1 in AFCON 2025 Qualifier

By: Joseph Adeshyllon Mansaray The Elephants of Ivory Coast secured a commanding 4-1 victory over Sierra Leone’s {Leone Stars } in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Friday night in San Pedro. Goals came from Nicolas Pepe, Franck Kessie who netted a brace, and Ousmane Diakite, while Sierra Leone's lone goal was scored by Alhassan Koroma. Sierra Leone’s struggles in Group G continued, leaving them at the bottom of the table with only 1 point from three matches (two losses and one draw). The Leone Stars face an uphill battle as they prepare to host Ivory Coast for the return leg in Liberia on Tuesday, aiming to turn the tide and keep their slim hopes for AFCON qualification alive. The match has set a high bar for the Leone Stars, as they must overcome this significant deficit to stay in contention for the 2025 tournament in Morocco.

Loud financial silence in Leone Stars camp

Even the players and officials are yet to receive a dime of their match appearance allowances. Officials from the camp when reached have preferred not to comment over the loud financial silence that has gripped the team.
