Fellow Sierra Leoneans, Today marks another milestone for the land that we love, Mama Salone. At 58, we celebrate a nation state that has transcended the challenges of conflict, disease and environmental disasters perpetuated by anthropogenic forces. We applaud a nation that has survived the destructive consequences of egocentrism, tribalism and regionalism, as in one voice we all strive to defend and fight for our rights. The high points of this day will not be measured by an empty stadium, but by our general resolve to work in unison to make Sierra Leone a better place. We inherited a country that is blessed with natural resources and immense human capital. Let  us therefore resolve to exploit this God-given potential for the common good of all Sierra Leoneans and those who sojourn amongst us.
