Kallie Bangura hat-trick keeps Sierra Leone in hunt for Sydney-World Cup final

By: Martin Wusuha Conteh Kallie Bangura marked a sensational fashion hat-trick to give Sierra Leone a pulsating 3-2 win over Syria in today's second rounds at the Potts Park complex. Sierra Leone were in danger of being held to a draw when Syria equalised (2-2) just after the interval but Bangura provided a neat finish ten minutes from time to earn his side victory. Sierra Leone will face Lebanon in the quarter-finals of the competition on Sunday at Potts Park complex, Yagoona. Head coach Yusuf Kamara has warned his side of the dangers of complacency following their poor performance against Syria despite securing a quarter spot. North East Region Playoff gets underway on Monday

One of Group A’s hot favorites Golden Dragons of Tonkolili, a former Premier League side will welcome their opponent Puna FC from Falaba in the opening match of the 2023 regional playoffs which also serves as the qualifiers to the National Playoff for the available three slots up for grab by the first division teams that will gain promotion to the national championship. FC Kallon progress to CAF Confederations Cup preliminary second round

Flamboyant Dauda cleared to contest Sierra Leone FA race

By: Alusine Rehme Wilson One of the top contenders for the Presidential race of the Sierra Leone Football Association Christian Dauda has won his appeal to be included in the race.  Dauda appealed the SLFA Electoral Committee May 17 decision to disqualify him on the grounds that he has not been resident in the country for five years, according to the regulations governing the elections.  But after looking into his appeal, the Appeals Committee headed by Lansana Kotor Kamara has ruled that Dauda is eligible to contest.  In it findings found that Dauda has resided in the country for five years thereby automatically qualify to run for the position of Vice President -1 in thee upcoming SLFA Elective congress.  It stated in a release. COVID-19 Swallows Sierra Leone Football Season

The decision to call off the 2019/2020 football season was unanimously taken by the Sierra Leone Premier League Board (PLB) in consultation with the country’s local football federation (SLFA) at a meeting held on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at the Atlantic Hall in Freetown, with representatives of all 14 Premier League clubs. Two main issues were discussed. The status of the 2019/2020 Sierra Leone Premier League and whether or not two teams must represent the country at the 2020/2021 CAF Inter-clubs tournaments. In memory of former Leone Stars and Lions Skipper Golden Great James Strasser

His family has confirmed.   The goal puncher died at age 83 and he will be remembered for being one of the greatest players of all times in Sierra Leone. He was a famous seaman who played with barefoot in his era with E.E Lions in the late 1950s as a defender, midfielder and striker in Freetown where he made his debut for Lions in 1958 and scored his first goal for the club, his first of many after he was introduced to the Elders of the club by his closest friend, Amadu Okoro Kamara. The former E.E Lions talisman won several League titles during his brief spell with the elite club and was loved by fans for his regular goal scoring ability though his soccer career was paired with fishing.
