Suba FC Narrows Gap with Malimba Queens in E.O Women's Cup

Suba FC’s win in the ongoing Equal Opportunity Women's Cup, organized by StarBurst Park, has boosted their morale, thanks to their talented forward, Zeneba Koroma who took advantage of Rangers Queen weak defense to net in the last minute of the game, bringing her total goal tally to four and topping the goal scoring chart. Koroma’s crucial goal had not only propelled her team to second place in the league's standings with six points and six goals, but also closed the gap with current leaders, Malimba Queens, who are three points ahead. Minority Rights Retreat Gets Underway for Activists, Journalists

By: Alusine Rehme Wilson The Media Reform Coordinating Group (MRCG) Sierra Leone, in collaboration with its international partner Minority Rights Group International and with support from the European Union, has initiated a three-day intensive retreat in the Southern regional city of Bo. This retreat is focused on educating and empowering activists and journalists in Sierra Leone to understand and effectively report on Minority Rights Issues (MRI). The retreat began on Monday, September 11 and is scheduled to conclude on Wednesday, September 13, as stated by project officer Patricia Sankoh. The activists and journalists in this retreat are a select group of journalists and activists who have been actively engaged in reporting and advocating for MRI-related issues in various communities across Sierra Leone's six regions. Fake ASP in Makeni Police Nest

EPA-SL storms mining sites in Tonkolili, set ablaze “illegal dredges”

By: alusinerehme.wilson@awokonewspaper.sl Led by the Executive Chairman Dr. Bondi Gevao, a team of staff from the Environment Protection Agency-Sierra Leone (EPASL), on Tuesday wrapped-up raids in mining sites along the Pampana river in Tonkolili district, Northern, Sierra Leone. The raid according to the EPA-SL Executive Chairman is a continuation of his nationwide unannounced visits to mining sites by way of upping their monitoring game as an agency responsible to protect the environment. East End Lions FC’s Alie Conteh reveals his persistence goal-scoring secrets

Conteh who’s on his debut Sierra Leone Premier League stint have been featured in 10 times for the 2019 SLPL Champions and has made history as the first player to score at hits first eight games. His impressive goals scoring skills earned him a debut call up to Leone Stars, the senior men’s national team of Sierra Leone and was part of Head coach John Edward Kiester’s 23-man squad to Turkey last February for the Antalya cup. 30 Journalists benefits from MRCG-SL’s Transitional Justice Training

Foday “604” Tarawalie lights up Masongbo CHC, religious houses and main streets

Of the eight-(8) solar lights that were single handedly donated to each of the three mosques, two churches, the Community Health Center and two installed at the two entrances of Masongbo community have all brought succor to the community. The lights have now become the center of attraction in the community and parents interviewed have thanked the donor for the lights which they say are now used at night by their children to study, especially those in the primary and junior secondary schools NPSE and BECE examination classes.
