Former Xamax Defender Umaro Zangalay Bangura says “he still has more to offer on and off the pitch”

By: Alusine Rehme Wilson  After donning the colors of Swiss second division side Neuchatel Xamax Football Club for 18 months, Former skipper of the Leone Stars Umaro Zangalay Bangura is now a free agent, effective Thursday, June 30, 2022. Since joining the club in January, 2021 Bangura represented his former club 31 times across all major tournaments, although his spell there had not let him accomplish all he wanted but the Sierra Leonean international defender who is now free to join any club, believes “he still has more to offer on and off the pitch.” Bangura is among the six players including Samuel Kasongo and Yannick who were loaned to Maladiere and two whose contracts with the Swiss side will not be extended following the end of their contracts with the club this summer, as was announced a week ago by the management of Neuchatel Xamax.

By: Alusine Rehme Wilson   Cecilia Renner, the Public Relations Officer of the Ernest Bai Koroma University-(EBKUST) has warned educated Sierra Leoneans to desist from the act of promoting Tribalism which she says "will deter the enjoyment of lasting peace in Sierra Leone.” She was speaking to AWE-Media.SL on Tuesday, 28th June, 2022 after taking part in a day’s Anti-Tribalism dialogue organized by renowned Civil Society Organization HEAL Salone for Students and Staff of the Ernest Bai Koroma University-(EBKUST) Makeni Campus, representatives of Civil Society Organization and other key stakeholders in Makeni city, Bombali District, Northeastern Sierra Leone. “I’m a living example of one that has been hunted countless times by tribalism promoters, an experience I could best as a thorn in my flesh,” she explained.
