Excitedly-awaited African Super League to be Launched in Tanzania Today

​ By: Alusine Rehme Wilson  The African continent is set to begin a new football journey today with the much anticipated Africa Super League tournament to be launched today. On Monday, the Confederation of African Football-(CAF) Media announced that the launching which will be done by CAF Boss Dr. Patrice Motsepe the President in the Tanzanian city of Arusha, at 10:00 GMT on Wednesday, 10th August, 2022. Adding, the launching will be broadcasted live on several TV networks in Africa and other parts of the world including CAF streaming platforms, CAFTV (YouTube).  “Since the CAF President announced the date of the launch in July 2022, there has been an air of expectation as Africa prepares for a new era that will change the face of African football and the economic fortunes of the continent,” CAF said in a statement posted on its website.

Over Faceless Strike Allegations, Police Arrests and detained Makeni, Lunsar suspects

By: Alusine Rehme Wilson  Unconfirmed number of suspects believed to have been arrested in Lunsar have joined other Makeni suspects in detention at the Mena Police station on Mena Hills over allegations of aiding and abetting behind the scenes to fuel the flames for the most talked about faceless citizens strike against the Government. Popular Motor Drivers Union member “Kabila,” radio-texter “Santos Maria” and others were arrested by the Sierra Leone Police in Makeni Sunday evening and detained at the Mena Police Station but Police has refrained from commenting on the reasons for their arrests. On a Monday morning follow up at the Mena Police station, I learned that other suspects arrested in Lunsar have been brought in and detained but the Police were still tight lipped to confirm. HRCSL Commences Public Hearing on Law Officials in the North

By: Alusine Rehme Wilson  As part of its mandate to investigate and eventually report on findings of violations against humanity in  the country, the Human Right Commission of Sierra Leone-(HRCSL) has commenced public hearings of the complaints received against the actions of Law Officials in the northern region. According to Patricia Narsu, the HRCSL Chairperson, she is leading the public hearing team in the north while other members of the commission are doing same in Kenema, Bo before they concluding all Hearings in Freetown in due course. She said they’ve successfully held the first public hearing in the Northern region for Koinadugu District Friday in Kabala and the hearings for Law Officials actions against civilians in Bombali District commences Monday, 8th August, 2022 and will continue on Tuesday, the same day when similar hearings for Port Loko and Tonkolili District will take place.
