He assumed office on Monday 1 May 2023, replacing AIG Harold Andrew Michael Charles Hanciles who has gone on his leave to retirement. Addressing pressmen upon his first day in office, AIG Kanneh underscored, he is happy to be in the region and noted that he's fully ready to carry out the force's core constitutional mandate which is to protect lives and property. According to AIG Kanneh, he believes the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) cannot effectively and efficiently carry out its constitutional mandate in isolation but through partnership and collaboration.
