​Commercial Motorbike Riders in Makeni suspend services over Fuel Scarcity

By: Alusine Rehme Wilson  Following acute scarcity of petroleum products precisely Petrol in the municipality of Makeni and its environs for almost a week now despite recent increase in the commodity’s pump price from Le 18,000 to Le  22,000, Commercial Motorbike Riders in the areas on Monday, July 4, 2022 suspended their routine services to members of the public demanding government’s intervention. It all started as early as 6:00am when some group of men identified to be commercial motorbike riders stormed strategic areas in Makeni city hunting their colleagues that will come out for routine riding, no surprise there was absolutely no commercial motorbike seen moving around the municipality as usual except for some privately owned. CAF Postpones 34th AFCON Edition to 2024

By: Alusine Rehme Wilson  During its latest Executive Committee Meeting in the Moroccan city of Rabat, Dr. Patrice Motsepe, the President of the Confederation of African Football-CAF announced the federation’s decision to postpone the 34th TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations to 2024. According to Dr. Patrice Motsepe, CAF has decided to postpone the  TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire “as a direct and sole result of the adverse weather conditions in the country and after also having received further technical opinion from experts on adverse effects of staging the matches in that period.” The tournament was earlier scheduled to be played in Ivory Coast for a month precisely from 23rd June to 23 July 2023, but it will now be played between January and February next year in the same nation(Ivory Coast) with 24 of Africa’s Best Men’s Senior National Teams that will progress from the qualifiers which started last months to compete for the prestigious African Trophy...

National U-15 Male Humbles Koya All Stars U-17 in Waterloo

By: Alusine Rehme Wilson   At the Vopad Mini-Stadium in Waterloo, Freetown the Sierra Leone National U-15 Male team impressively humbled Koya All Stars U-17 Football team 2-1 in their ongoing nationwide preparatory friendly matches for the WAFU-A Zone U-15 tournament underway in neighboring Liberia. Coach Alimu Koroma’s regular goal scorers Osman Mansaray and Alimamy Kargbo both registered their names on the score sheets respectively in the 17th and 36th minutes while Koya All Stars U-17’s consolation goal was netted by Abubakarr Mansaray(own goal) to end the entertaining youthful showpiece 2-1. It's the first win from a total of four friendly matches the U-15 side has earned since entering preparatory camp in Freetown on Friday, 26th June, 2022.

​Kabala City FC’s Coach blames opponent’s maturity for 5-0 defeat against Bombali Shebora

Makeni All Stars dislodge Leone Stars 4-1, ends unbeaten run

​By: Alusine Rehme Wilson Makeni All Stars Football Club on Sunday defeated Leone Stars 4-1 at the Wusum Stadium in a warm-up match organized by Caribbean entertainment. It was the first defeat out of five friendly matches played so far by the Sierra Leone Senior Men’s National Team in their ongoing nationwide tour. Host Makeni All Stars which was guided by Former Wusum Stars and Bombali Shebora Football Club Ibrahim A.S Kamara entered into the match with much determination for victory and it did pay off as they played for pride at a crowded Wusum stadium thanks to former Sahid-Conteh-U Football Club’s forward Sulaiman Sheriff Kargbo hat-trick and Wusum Stars promising forward Abdul Bangura’s 50th minute finish.
