Sierra Leone Musicians Union Interim Executive Members Engages Entertainers…

Members of the Sierra Leone Musicians Union - (SLMU) Interim Committee has on Friday 14th July, 2019 at Hotel Africanus, King Street, Freetown, Westwards of the country engaged a handful of Entertainers in a dialogue meeting that was centered around its recent movements and progresses they have made so far, since the interim committee was put together couple of Months ago.

The interim committee which is made of some reckonable names in the industry that have over the years earned remarkable laurels and have in one way or the other greatly contributed towards the development processes in the country’s entertainment sector, basis upon which they were chosen to serve as the readily available team to spearhead the redemption drive for the reestablishment of a single parent body that will bear all the burden, joys and of course that will regulate and mediate the activities and programs of its members on neutral grounds for the good of the Music sector and by extension help in rebranding the country’s good name in terms of music nationally and globally in ensuring that Sierra Leone Musicians and their Art becomes the envy of all and sundry.

At the meeting which was chaired by the interim Chairman Alie Conteh started with individual silent prayers by attendees, followed by updates from the Secretary King Fisher who read SLMU’s concept note and further revealed that the interim committee has successfully completed Registration of the Sierra Leone Musicians Union – (SLMU) with the office of the Registrar General, have also opened a bank account for SLMU, and currently the committee have almost completed the draft constitution for the Union all of these King Fisher said they have completed in less than six months since they were appointed by Musicians to serve them.

Following Fishers’s submission, SLMU Chairman Alie Conteh request all present at the meeting to comment on the concept note the Secretary read and to add or reduce ideas from or to the concept note and to also do the needful recommendations on what and what the SLUM constitution should capture.

Sir Wahid, Lansana Sheriff (Steady Bongo), Femicious Famous, AB-Foryou, AR-Wilson, Prezo Koroma, Rich Blink, Julie, Biggy Fligh and others commended the interim committee for a job well done in such a very shorter period and then they made meaningful inputs on recommendations to be captured in SLMU constitution which was all acknowledged for kindest consideration and featuring into the Union’s constitution.

After several deliberations at the meeting, it was all resolved and agreed upon by would be SLMU Members that the concept note and a copy of the Union’s constitution to be distributed nationwide to all cooperate bodies, institutions, organizations, groups, and individuals in the country’s music sector to better orientation of what SLMU aims at achieving and will stand for.

A seven days period will be given to all recipients of the documents to send in their replies to the interim committee of their position to belong to a Musician parent body like SLMU before a call for membership will be open officially in the near future, which will hopefully be after the official launching of SLMU that is envisaged to be stage in October or the end of 2019.

This decision from the SLMU Executive was warmly accepted by attendees and they all promised to give their fullest support to the union and will also help to propagate the ideas and messages of SLMU to all and sundry upon their return.

Makeni Medical Mission Brings Hope and Healing to Bombali District

Sierra Leone, Two other Nations disqualified from AFCON 2024 U17 Qualifiers
