Slum Advocacy for Children June 16, 2020 Messages

The Day of The African Child has been celebrated on June 16 every year since 1991, when it was first initiated by the Organisation of African Unity (OAU).

It honors the memory of those who participated in the Soweto Uprisings in 1976.

It also raises awareness of the continuing need for improvement of the education provided to African Children.

With this backdrop, Slum Advocacy for Children, with one of it's mandates which is to provide teaching and learning materials to underprivileged children, joins other African countries to commemorate the African Child's Day with the Theme
*Access to Child-Friendly* *Justice* "

As a children's Advocacy Organisation, we are calling for friendly justice for all children in Sierra Leone.

We are also calling on all parents and guardians living in the slum communities to look after their children during the rainy season.

We are also calling all parents and guardians to make education a must for every child.
