COFA Chairman Recuperating

By: Brima Bah, Sports Commentator and Analyst✍️
The Chairman of the Central One Football Association (COFA), Pa Sama Sesay recovered from a long and critical illness, but he still remains tired and is trying to regain his full strength.

At his resident today, Sunday 13th September 2020, he expressed gratitude to God for seeing him through what was a long, painful and critical illness that left him admitted, and in most part, under intensive care for nearly six months.

"During this period of illness, my family, close friends, and a number other well wishers stood by him, thanks for their invaluable support." The recuperating COFA Chairman remarked.
Chairman Sesay has been one of the most contributing members to the socio-cultural development of the Freetown Central Community and perhaps the biggest promoter of local football in the entire country for the past ten years, through his leadership of COFA.

Over the past 35 years, thousands of players, managers, team owners and promoters, coaches, technical assistants, referees, adminstrators, sports journalists, commentators & analysts and fans have gone through COFA and benefitted from the leadership of Chairman Sama. His League,  the Inter Area Competition has attracted community teams accross the Western Area and even the provinces.

The 2017/2018 Championship witnessed the participation of a team from Mambolo, Kambia.

What is more evident is the fact that the best players accross the country were brought to play in the COFA Inter Area, especially during the last seven but two years when the regional and national leagues were all dormant and in limbo.

When the national league eventually retruned in the 2018/2019 Season, Chairman Sama was wisely  appointed to serve in the Chairman Saffa Abdullah's Premier League Board which, in the recent history of the national league, has put up the best show piece of national football club competion the nation has so far witnessed.

Chairman Sesay is a father, god father, promoter and mentor for countless number of people who have gone on to rise up to the highest levels of the various aspects of sports, especially football, as well as other walks of life.

This piece is intended to serve as information for the many whose lives he has touched and would love to be informed of his condition so that they would express appreciation for whatever little contribution he could have made to the lives journey.

He is currently residing at Barham Road, upper Berry Street, towards FBC, just opposite the sub station of the GVWC.

By: Alusine Rehme Wilson Claim: Soccer World HQ, in a Facebook post , claimed that Senegal is the first African team to beat England and the first to score three goals against them. Verdict: Partly True! Senegal is the first African team to beat England, but not the first to score three goals against them. Full Text The England senior men’s national football team, nicknamed the “Three Lions,” played their first match against Scotland in 1872. That match ended goalless but marked the beginning of an intense soccer rivalry between both nations, dubbed the “Auld Enemy.” Since 1872-2025, the England national team has achieved its 1000-game milestone in November 2019 when they played Montenegro at the Wembley Stadium. England's all-time head-to-head record shows that they’ve played a whopping 1072 matches against 100 countries, won 615 games, drew 255, and lost 200. Senegal, on the other hand, is one of Africa’s most famous football nations, nicknamed the “Lions of Teranga.” In 2002, ...
