Sierra Leone slips 5 places down in latest Men’s Ranking

By: Alusine Rehme Wilson

The Leone Stars of Sierra Leone, the nation’s senior men’s team have dropped five places downwards from 108th to 113th place in the World, and now ranked as the 25th Best team in Africa, according to the FIFA/Coca Cola latest Men’s National Teams Ranking.

As of last March, John Edward Keister’s side slipped one place downwards from 107th to 108th with a total points of 1173.89 but have scored 5.68 points less to drop five place downwards and currently occupy 113th place globally with a total point of 1168.21.

The ranking did not come as a surprise as many sports pundits had since predicted a drop for the side guided by the former East End Lions and FC Johansen technician following the nation’s 2-1 defeat to Nigeria and its 2-2 draw against Guinea Bissau in their Group-A qualifier matches for the 2023-TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations to be hosted in Ivory Coast.

Meanwhile, Brazil still remains the number one-(1st) Men’s National team in the world followed by Belgium and Argentina  while the British Virgin Islands, Anguilla and San Marino respectively sit at the rock bottom of the global men’s national teams ranking in 210, 211 and 212th positions.
