By: Alusine Rehme Wilson

Sierra Leone innovator and Inaugural Global Student prize Laureate winner Jeremiah Thoronka says “2023 is going to be a great experience, adding that “I'm looking forward to all the great leaps Sierra Leone, colleagues, friends, family and myself will make in the new year."

His statement comes a few hours after he had honored an invitation from the Vatican to spend a day with Pope Francis, the head of the Catholic Church. He has been the bishop of Rome and sovereign of the Vatican City State since 13 March 2013.

According to Jeremiah, his meeting with Pope Francis saw them conclude a high-level discussion in relation to “climate change, youths and education on Saturday, 31st January 2022. Saying: “It was truly a great conversation and opportunity to hold a conversation with the Pope, standing on platforms, and sitting in rooms with other great minds while visiting many great places across the world.”

After his meeting with the Pope, Jeremiah, an Innovator Entrepreneur and Scholar that is busy making Sierra Leone famous in the world over through his hard-work, passion and commitments to his innovation career which saw him been added recently to the list of the 100 Most Influential Africans, also graced the historic graduation of Scholas Occurentes–(a worldwide network of schools promoted by Pope Francis. The goal is the integration of educational communities around the world, with special emphasis on those with fewer resources,) on the last day of the year 2022.

Furthermore, the versatile and young Sierra Leonean could not hold back his joy for meeting the Global leader of the Catholic Church, and had to summarize his long day at the Vatican in his new year’s message to his fellow countrymen and others across the world.

He acknowledged that 2022 was good to him, yet, in the spirit of continued growth, he looks forward to “transiting to the new year (2023) with no trepidation of any kind, but with so much excitement that it’s going to be my best year, yet. Looking forward to all the great leaps Sierra Leone, colleagues, friends, family and myself will make. 2023 is going to be a great experience, wishing you all a great, blissful, prosperous and wonderful year ahead. Gracais,” he further said in his Facebook post.
