“We keep winning to let everybody know, Freetown is not Sierra Leone”–Papaya Athletics Captain Alerts"

Mohamed Wulladeh, the captain of Makeni based Papaya Athletics Camp, owned by Famous Athletics Coach Alpha Papaya and consisting of young and promising sprinters and other athletics in the Northern Region, say their camp is sticking to winning ways across regional, national and international athletics contest to let everybody know that “Freetown is not Sierra Leone.

Wulladeh’s justification comes just a week after himself and other athletics had shown class at the 97th edition of the Annual National Athletics Boxing Day Competition that was hosted on Boxing Day, at the Bo City Stadium in the Southern province of Sierra Leone.

He described their success in Bo as “a landmark achievement” noting that 97th edition of the national athletics contest “was incredible. It was a double plus for us as provincial based athletics with limited training facilities and support to outshine our Freetown based counterparts belonging to 22 traditional athletics groups but teamed up into 4 groups to compete against us, yet they were unable to beat us.”

Commenting on the 16 medals won by his camp in Bo on December 26 last year, Wulladeh said that’s just part of their usual tricks but revealed his joy over the unity shown by all the athletics, especially the females whose dominance had helped them secure a solid win.

He wrapped up congratulating his camp especially their coach, and strongly appealed to both athletics and non athletics stakeholders to come to their aid financially or materially saying all of our success had come out o hard training and struggles being that we’re really constrained to even get proper meals as athletes, not to talk the non availability of the recommended sporting wears which are very expensive for us to afford as runners.
