The Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) has declared that starting today, there will be power shortages in Freetown until Thursday, June 20.

The outages are expected to last for six hours each day, from 9:00 AM till 2:00 PM local time, between Tuesday, June 18 and Thursday, June 20, as stated in a public notice released on Monday by EDSA.

In the release, EDSA explained that the power cuts are necessary to facilitate the seamless extension and installation of the transfer bus for the newly installed 40MVA Power Transformer at the Freetown 161 substation.

Furthermore, the Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority also revealed that they have coordinated with the Electricity Generation and Transmission Company (EGTC)/Salini and Karpowership to temporarily disconnect their supply connection to the Transfer Bus during the specified dates and times.

However, EDSA expressed regret for any inconvenience caused by the situation and assured customers that the schedule will be strictly adhered to.

They further emphasized in the public notice that the completion of the extension, installation, and other project components will enhance the reliability of power supply to communities.
