By: Alusine  Rehme Wilson

In a Saturday morning chat with Awoko Newspaper, the Northern Region Female Handball Trainer Isata Koroma said “players’ agility is vital in the game of handball.”

She was responding to interview questions regarding her team’s current state since they were defeated back to back by their Masiaka counterparts a week ago in their first warm-up meetings.

“The players are all doing well since we resumed training last Tuesday after losing away and at home to the Masiaka Female Handball team, '' she calmly replied.

Adding that they’re not boarded by the double header results, says the said warm-up matches were their very first test since the team was established in Makeni some two years ago.

“Truly, we were not expecting to win against the Masiaka team which is undoubtedly one of the most experienced handball teams in the country our main goal was to test the fitness level of our players and I’m happy that they had a good test that has inspired them to improve in their agility which is very vital in the game of handball,” she disclosed.

Asked about the team’s immediate plan, Coach Istata Koroma replied saying: “We’re continuing with our trainings to help build the players agility and when we are done with that we will engage into playing more friendly matches but for now we are calling on everyone in the region and beyond to support the team as we make advances to popularizing and promoting the game of handball in this part of the country.”
