In what is called an on the spot monitoring , the National Coordinator for Global Environment Facility Small Grants Programme, UNDP, Abdul Rahman A. Sannoh has on the 21st October, 2022 visited the eWomen SLC Play Ground in Makeni.

The visit which is to monitor and evaluate how far the project which is also funded by UNDP is going, has created an impressive impact after taking some snap shots of the project site which is on the verge of completion and set to be handed over to the school administration.

In his address to a few staff and authorities of the school namely, Mrs. Kafiatu T. S. Bangura, Head Teacher senior section, Mr. Brina Kargbo,  Teacher and Elizabeth E. Bangura, Head Teacher, Nursery Section, Mr. Sannoh stressed on the need for a formation of a committee to manage the Playground. He said one of the responsibilities is to source out funds from the little charges as access to the facility. This he said would create an opportunity for the pupils of the school and the community.

Occasions like birthday parties, picnics and other recreational activities for children can be organized at the facility with small charges to gain access to the play ground adding that this will facilitate maintenance, repairs and control of the place from intruders. Mr. Sannoh advised the school authorities to do their best in making sure the facility is well kept and protected.

The Innovation Officer of eWomen, Kisimi Kellaymasa Kamara, said it is their desire as an organization to achieve the objective of the SLC Playground as they approach its completion phase. He went on to say that it has been a long journey but thankfully enough they will soon hand over the project to the rightful owners in a grand launching program which is set to happen soon.

Mr. Kamara highlighted one of the advantages of the playground to the school authorities present and assured them of the value it will add to the school and also having the ability to attract children to choose SLC as their school of choice. He therefore called on the school authorities present to treat the playground with care so as to not let the eWomen and UNDP's efforts go in vein.

He further mentioned plans for the launching of the play ground to be backed up by a female match and the presentation of prizes to winners of the Cleanest Community Competition organized by eWomen. This he said will be a remarkable and an event worthy to go down in the history of the school.

The three authorities present, Mrs. Kadiatu T. S. Bangura, Brima Kargbo and Elizabeth E. Bangura, pledged to form the committee whose responsibility is to manage and ensure the playground is always in good order. They promised to always keep it secured from intruders and will ensure to raise money for wears and tears. All three thanked eWomen for this great initiative.
