By: alusinerehme.wilson@awokonewspaper.sl

For the third time since August, the Senior Women’s National Team of Sierra Leone nicknamed “Sierra Queens” has failed to make any improvements in the global  ranking of the FIFA/Coca Cola Women’s National Football Teams, the team has been ranked 136th out of 185th Nations according to a December 9 ranking.

The top five Nations are USA, Germany, Sweden, England and France while Madagascar, Angulilla, Turks and Caicos Islands, South Sudan and Mauritius are rock bottom on 181, 182, 183, 184 and 185 places respectively.

From being ranked 136th in respectively in March and June this year, the Sierra Queens of Sierra Leone are still stuck at 138th globally but 22nd in the African continent behind Guinea, Gabon, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia and their Gambian Counterparts with Nigeria(45), South Africa(54), Cameroon(58) Ghana(59) and Cote d’Ivoire(65) leading the continental ranking as the top best Senior National Women’s Football Teams.

Overall, the Sierra Leone Senior National Women’s Team best ranking is 135th and one would be quick to agree that the nation’s which has been lagging behind but only commenced its first-ever National Women’s Top-Tier last October still has a huge mountain to climb at both the continental and global women’s football stages despite it has started producing a few crop of amazing players that are now plying their trades overseas, and one would be quick to agree that the nation’s which has been lagging behind but only commenced its first-ever National Women’s Top-Tier last October still has a huge mountain to climb at both the continental and global women’s football stages despite it has started producing a few crop of amazing players that are now plying their trades overseas.
