Skipper Kamara’s Brace Propels Sierra Leone U-20 to Victory against Liberia

By: Tejan Frederickson Fatorma, Media Officer, Sierra Leone U-20 Team The Sierra Leone National U-20 team, Shooting Stars took a significant step towards the next stage of the ongoing AFCON U-20 qualifiers by defeating the host nation, Liberia 3-1 at the SKD Stadium in Monrovia. After drawing their opening match against Guinea, Shooting Stars approached today’s game with panache and pedigree. Their efforts paid off when the team’s captain, Momoh Ibrahim Kamara delivered an outstanding performance opened the deadlock in the 37th minute. Kamara skillfully navigated through an Idrissa Sesay low cross assist to put Sierra Leone in the lead. The momentum continued in grand style in the second half of proceedings when Santigie Fornah doubled the lead in the 50th minute. Fornah capitalized on a precision pass from Sallieu Bah sending the ball into the back of the net. This goal showcased the synergy between the Petrolul FC-based player and his teammates. Sierra Leone U-20 Team Participates in CAF Safeguarding Workshop

By: Tejan Frederickson Fatorma, SLFA Media Officer Attached, National U20✍️ The Sierra Leone U-20 football team recently participated in a one-day safeguarding workshop organized by the West African Football Union (WAFU) Zone A. The event was held at the Boulevard Palace Hotel in Monrovia, Liberia, on Tuesday 17th September 2024 was a directive from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) as part of the ongoing U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers tournament. Representing the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) at the workshop were Technical Director Ibrahim Bah, Shooting Stars captain Momoh I. Kamara and Edward Bello Yillah as player representatives. The workshop provided a valuable opportunity for the team to gain insights and experience on critical issues affecting young players. Political Intimidation: Youth Activist Hunted

By: Mohamed Bailor Bah The family of Alpha Para Kanu resident of No. 40 Miseri Street in the Makeni municipality in the Northern Judicial District of the Republic of Sierra Leone is worried about the mysterious disappearance of their son, his wife and their two children who has been at large to an unknown destination since July 18, 2020. It could be recalled that the 27-year-old Kanu, a father of two was respected for his active involvement as a youth in the politics of his country at grassroots level. He was a member of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) advance team which is charged with the responsibility to pre-inspect visitation sites before the arrival of top dignitaries of his political party including executive members and flag bearers. Sierra Leone's U20 Coach Mohamed Lamin Asserts Team Readiness

By: Tejan Frederickson Fatorma Media Officer Attached National U20 As the U-20 national football team prepares to embark on their journey for the upcoming WAFU Zone A tournament, Head Coach Mohamed Lamin Kamara expressed his confidence in the team’s readiness following an intensive two and a half months of training.  The squad, consisting of 20 players—15 home-based and 5 foreign-based—has shown remarkable progress and cohesion. In an interview, Coach ML shared his thoughts on the team’s preparation and the upcoming challenges. “The past two and a half months have been incredibly demanding but the players have responded with great determination and hard work,” he said. “We have focused on building a strong tactical foundation improving physical fitness and fostering team spirit.” The training camp included rigorous daily sessions, friendly matches, and specialized workout aimed at enhancing both individual skills and team dynamics. “Our home-based players have shown tremendous growth a...
