A recent Facebook post by Sierraloaded News has gone viral. The post alleges that the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE) has made a sudden decision to cancel the new curriculum and return to the old one. The post claims that the ministry no longer supports the new education system that was introduced and promoted in recent years.

This claim attracted mixed reactions from the public, with some expressing confusion, while others began sharing the post widely without confirming the facts. The viral nature of the post raised concerns among parents, teachers, and pupils who are currently adjusting to the new curriculum introduced by the ministry.

Verification:

DUBAWA contacted the Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education, Mr. Cornard Sackey, for clarification. The minister responded by providing an official press release. Sackey condemned Sierraloaded News’s claim in the statement and described it as false.

He stated that the Ministry has not decided or announced to abandon the new curriculum. He emphasised that neither he nor any official from the Ministry has authorised or issued such a directive.

According to the press release, the Ministry remains fully committed to implementing and developing the new curriculum. The new system, which focuses on improving critical thinking, creativity, and practical knowledge among pupils, continues to be part of the government’s education reform efforts.

Conclusion

Sierraloaded News’s claim that the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education has announced a return to the old curriculum is false. The Ministry denied this allegation. There is no plan to cancel or reverse the new curriculum.
