Day 2 of the ongoing 10-day Cartographic Mapping training in the Northern Region saw a strong display of teamwork and collaboration among participants from Bombali, Falaba, Koinadugu, and Tonkolili districts. Held at the Garden State Halls, the training aims to build district-level capacity in digital mapping techniques.
Test scores from today's session reflect significant progress, particularly in Room Two, where two female trainees achieved perfect scores of 100%. Their performance exceeded even the already impressive scores of over 80% recorded by participants in Room One on day one of the training.
These results of the first two days of the Northern Region Districts Catographic Mapping training are a testament to the dedication of both trainees and facilitators, led by Mr. Mohamed Keita Samura, the Northern Region lead.

Although some participants still show areas needing improvement, the overall pass rate suggests a promising trajectory as they continue to grasp the core concepts introduced during the opening sessions.
Participants are becoming increasingly comfortable with digital mapping tools, including tablets and accessories distributed by Mr. Amadu Sheriff, the Principal Statistician for the Northern Region.

Following the routine daily test, facilitators, supported by census officers from all four districts, delivered in-depth sessions on key topics from Chapters 3 and 4, covering Digital Mapping and its elements, Satellite Image Interpretation, Coding Systems, and hands-on demonstrations in computerized coding by field mappers.
The day's learning was enriched by group presentations and interactive questions and answers sessions, fostering a collaborative environment.

To consolidate learning, participants have been given assignments ahead of the outdoor Satellite Image Interpretation exercise. This practical session, which includes hands-on map operations, is scheduled for Day 3 of the training on Wednesday, September 24th, and is expected to be a highlight of the program.
