HRCSL kick-off nationwide climate change for fundamental rights enjoyment engagement in Makeni

By: Alusine Rehme Wilson  The Human Rights Commission of Sierra Leone (HRCSL) in collaboration with the Danish Institute for Human Rights, has launched a nationwide awareness campaign on climate change and its human rights implications, beginning in the northeastern city of Makeni. The day-long engagement, held on November 20, 2025, at the Sierra Leone Teachers Union (SLTU) Hall, brought together key regional stakeholders, including representatives of the Sierra Leone Police, traditional leaders, civil society organizations, and the media with the desire to protect people, preserve the planet, empower communities, and safeguard the country’s future. Statistics Sierra Leone's cartographic mapping awareness reaches Oslo Amputee Camp, Panlap, Masongbo, other Bombali communities...

On Thursday, November 13, 2025, residents of Oslo Amputee Camp at Rochain, Fullah Town, Sesay Street, Sylvanus Street, Timbo Car Wash, Panlap, Yeli Sanda, Yoni, Masongbo, and other communities in and around Makeni city warmly received the cartographic mapping awareness message from Statistics Sierra Leone through a loud-hailer vehicle publicity exercise. Introducing myself as the Northern Regional Publicity Officer (RPO) for the 2026 National Population and Housing Census, I extended warm greetings from the leadership and management of Statistics Sierra Leone and its partners.  And will the solicited consent of residents, adhesive posters were placed at strategic points to boost visibility as part of the awareness drive by Statistics Sierra Leone's Communications and Public Relations Directorate supported by the leadership  and partners. 4th Infantry Brigade, Makeni Main Lorry Park, and Other Bombali Localities Welcome Cartographic Mapping Awareness

On Wednesday, November 12, 2025, senior and junior personnel of the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) attached to the 4th Infantry Brigade at Teko Barracks in Makeni, Bombali District, received Statistics Sierra Leone’s cartographic mapping awareness message through a loud-hailer vehicle publicity exercise. With express permission granted by the Brigade leadership, who was unavoidably absent, through Lieutenant Timothy Amos Saffa, I conveyed appreciation to the officers, introduced myself as the Northern Regional Publicity Officer (RPO) for the 2026 National Population and Housing Census, and extended warm greetings from the leadership and management of Statistics Sierra Leone and its partners.
