Techfrica: Africa’s Novelty from Sierra Leone

By: Alusine Rehme Wilson

“Twelve years ago, my son Hassan Aziz Bakarr started his innovative journey with passion to widen Technology in Sierra Leone and the entire African continent, his mother Madam Kadijatu Cashor Wellington told journalists in Freetown during a press conference held to mark the launch of Techfrica’s most recent app: Videofrica.

Today, Hassan’s innovation through Techfrica Company covers web design, development of multiple software applications and online platform such as Audiofrica, Livefrica, Ridefrica, Supfrica, ABCfrica, Vidsfrica including its latest application Videofrica which was  unveiled at the country’s head office located at #383 Bai Bureh Road, Mamboreh junction.

With age long interest to Promote African Music in 2007 the Sierra Leonean born, from his residence in the US launched an online radio named: Africa Radio assisted by a lone engineer and became the first African to own an online radio in the United States of America and later produced more broadcasts licenses in the quest to expand his brand.

Such expansion never sized till date as Techfrica continue its match to beat global technological and multimedia companies in terms of content developments.

No wonder Techfrica has opened partnership doors to a number of Sierra Leoneans and other persons across Africa, created jobs and offering technological expertise to employees serving in various capacities as engineers, content developers, managers, cashiers, marketers, bloggers, promoters at the same time provided online streaming profits to artistes and comfort to users of his numerous applications.

Like Audiofrica application available for download from Google Play or App Store allows anyone to create an account, subscribe to upload their music and make profits from online streaming. Techfrica’s new application Videofrica does the same for movie makers and video owners to earn similar gains while Supfrica functions in the same way like Whatapp.

On the other hand, Ridefrica app prevents users from traffic and other transportations burden, with just one click, users can access quick, effective and cheap transportation services at their doorsteps just as Ubber app.

On pushing education in Africa and beyond Techfrica has also introduced the ABCfrica which teaches basic literacy to children.

According to Abdul Aziz Koroma, the Manager at Techfrica Sierra Leone, the company is in top gears to popularize their products nationwide targeting all with special focus to entertainers in the music, modeling and filming industry.

“Techfrica is by Africans for Africans and the world over, this is why we want to embark on a nationwide tour to market Audiofrica and Videofrica mainly to our entertainers whose trade has been put on the sword earning little or nothing from their million views on YouTube and Audiomack which they can overturn by switching to our apps. He urged.

“At Techfrica our services are affordable and effective and for as low as the sum of One Hundred Thousand Leone (Le 100,000) equivalent to $10 per song Artists can upload their music and make profit from every single online stream earned for a period of six months, this is why I’m quite sure the time is now for all musicians and film makers to subscribe to our multiple packages to begin to realize profit from their work”. Aziz remarked.

Following last Monday announcement on their Facebook page to introduce Socialfrica app, Techfrica are just getting started in terms of making their mark in the global technological community.

According to Techfrica, the application which is underway will allow Artists to make money from their videos that will be watched by users of Socialfrica. Undoubtedly, Techfrica’s establishment in Sierra Leone and other parts of Africa and across is novelty.
