DeCMaTT Inaugurates New Student Leader

It was all great on Sunday 18th October, 2020 at the premises of the Destiny College of Management, Theology and Technology situated at 35 Azzolini Highway in Makeni where various dignitaries including Staff and Students of the college converged for the inaugural ceremony of Shebora Kanu, the institution’s newly elected student leader.

Shebora Kanu, haven won the highest support from the institution’s student body, becomes the second student union president elect to be inaugurated by the college since the institution was established in 2016, the Acting Register at DeCMaTT, Mr. Gibrilla Turay remarked.

He further remarked that “the occasion ends the government of Patrick M. Dumbuya who is set to write his NCTVA examination along with his colleagues in the final year of study  with Kanu been handed a mandate of stirring the students affairs for one year.”

A Higher National Diploma student from the Human Resource Management department, Kanu defeated Philip B. Mansaray fully in the pools after both aspirants contested to what has been referred to as a joyfully but very intensive campaign in order to be able to convince their followers through their campaign manifestos. 

In his remarks, the outgoing president Patrick M. Dumbuya called on his successor to work in line with the guidelines of the college administration and forget not to fulfill his campaign promises.

With a smiling face Shebora Kanu avowed to keep to his campaign promises while extending his dearest appreciations to his predecessor, voters, fellow aspirant and others who believed in his vision for liberation and supported him wholeheartedly to emerge winner of the highly contested election. 

"I'm happy being inaugurated on this day. My deepest thanks to the college administration for hosting such an event, our lecturers have displayed willingness to not only helping us to become elites but are creating the enabling space to train us as great leaders in the nearest future. 

“Let me end my speech by urging colleague students to put hands on desk and join my government achieve my plans as highlighted in my manifesto.” Kanu said.

Speaking to northern times, the Acting Register of DeCMaTT Mr. Gibrilla Turay joined other speakers to thank the entire students and Staff for their enthusiastic display of decency to participate in a very peaceful and successful election as was expected by the administration. 
He called on the new student leadership to work in accordance with the college’s principles and pledged the administration’s willingness to guide and support their activities.

Established from a religious calling through renowned Reverend Dr. Sidy Papayo Sesay of the Salvation of Jesus Army (SOJA) ministry whose sole aims for establishing the college with support from members of his ministry is to improve adult literacy while creating the platform to help empower young people.

SoJA Ministry’s vision is gradually been achieve with the rebranding of the College and establishment of the Heritage High School through the intervention of Mr. Amadu Mitchell Koroma and a crop of other young but very experienced staff rendering their services as Lecturers, Teachers and serving in various administrative positions since 2018.

Yoni Chiefdom Crowns Journalist Richmond Tholley as Ceremonial Chief
