AFCON 2025: Libya, Nigeria "Hospitality Music and Chair"

By: Joseph Adeshyllon Mansaray
Libya and Nigeria's football teams have faced significant travel difficulties ahead of their AFCON 2025 qualification matches, sparking concerns over the handling of logistics and fair play in the tournament.

Last week, Libya's national team traveled to Nigeria to honor their fixture, only to be met with extended delays at the airport. Reports indicate that after the long wait, the team had to endure a lengthy drive to their hotel, causing frustration and fatigue ahead of their crucial game.

In a turn of events yesterday, Nigeria's team arrived in Libya for their return fixture, only to encounter similar obstacles. The Nigerian squad reportedly faced long delays at the airport and were met with inadequate transportation, as a single mini-bus was dispatched to transport the team to their accommodation.

The incidents have raised questions about the treatment of visiting teams in AFCON qualifiers, with fans and commentators alike calling for the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to take action.
Many believe CAF should implement stricter penalties, such as fines, for host nations that fail to provide proper logistical support for visiting teams.

Such actions undermine the spirit of the AFCON tournament, which aims to celebrate Africa's footballing talent and unity. By failing to uphold basic standards for hospitality, these nations risk damaging the reputation of the tournament and tarnishing the values of sportsmanship and fair play that it stands for.

Calls are growing for CAF to address these logistical lapses and ensure that future matches are played under conditions that respect both the players and the integrity of the competition.

In a recent development, CAF has responded: https://www.cafonline.com/news/caf-views-the-disturbing-and-unacceptable-experiences-of-the-nigerian-national-football-team-super-eagles-at-an-airport-in-libya-in-a-very-serious-light/

By: Alusine Rehme Wilson Claim: Soccer World HQ, in a Facebook post , claimed that Senegal is the first African team to beat England and the first to score three goals against them. Verdict: Partly True! Senegal is the first African team to beat England, but not the first to score three goals against them. England's all-time head-to-head record shows that they’ve played a whopping 1072 matches against 100 countries, won 615 games, drew 255, and lost 200.
