NPDC briefs the Press on upcoming debates

The National Political Debates Committee -(NPDC) on Thursday, December 8 briefed the media on its plans to host the nation's first-ever political debates for youth, women and persons with disabilities.

The day’s  event was hosted at the Harry Yansaneh hall on Campbell Street and was chaired by Mr. Ahmed Sahid Nasralla, the President of the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists-(SLAJ).

In his opening address, Mr. Nasralla welcomed the journalists from both print and electronics media institutions in the country invited to the event, saying you're all welcome to this News conference organized by the NPDC which comprises of eleven organisations including SLAJ, SLUDI, CGG, IGR, PPRC and the SLBC to keep you all informed with the plans we've put together with regards the upcoming debates we will be organizing for youth, women and persons with disabilities. He conclusively called on journalists to take the message home ams spread if far an wide.

Other speakers at the event were the NPDC Spokesman Mr. Lucien Momoh and Mr. Mohamed I. Konneh, the resident program director at NDI. They both enjoined the SLAJ President on his call for Journalists to cascade the message through their various media institutions.

In addition, both speakers reassured that: "NPDC will be staging a first of it's kind debates with all 17 registered political parties in Sierra Leone being fully represented by their members within the age brackets of 18-35.

Meanwhile, NPDC say they in due course will be publishing the specific dates and other information regarding the upcoming debates for youth, women and persons living with disabilities that will be aired and broadcasted live on Television and Radio Stations nationwide.
