By: Hawa Dauda and Abu H. Kargbo
Following yesterday's goalless draw against AS Mande in the second match of the ongoing CAF Women's Champions League Zonal Qualifiers in Liberia, the management of Mogbwemo Queens FC this evening, Thursday, August 10th 2023 at RLJ Kendeja Resort & Villas engaged both the players and the technical team ahead of the last match on Saturday at ATS against Determine Girls. During the engagement, members of the management expressed their views on the performance of the team describing the outcome of the match against AS Mande as very unfavourable "This was not the journey we anticipated as it is now evident that we can't seal the spot to qualify for the CAF Women's Champions League in Côte d'Ivoire after the goalless draw yesterday, however, you the players have to go all cost to win the match against Determine Girls FC to finish in a position that will courage us the management, as well as it will be appreciated by Sierra Leoneans," Team Manager Yayah Mansaray stated. The legal luminary and Chief Executive Officer of Mogbwemo Queens FC, Emmanuel Tondoneh also expressed similar sentiments urging the team to capture all three points in the last match, adding that for the team to reach the continental stage shows that progress is taking place "When I recalled how everything started six years ago and where we are today it indicates that we have made a progress in this project, even though, we could no longer make it up to Côte d'Ivoire in November, it is worthy to note that the match against Determine Girls is a must-win so that we can clinch either the 2nd or the 3rd position," CEO Tondoneh remarked. Winger Salamatu Kamara, while making a brief statement on behalf of the players asserted that it is a tough moment for the club, nonetheless, she promised that they will climax the qualifiers with four points and a huge win against Determine Girls.

By: Abdulrahman Barrie The U17 football teams from Sierra Leone, Guinea, and Guinea Bissau have been disqualified from the 2024 U17 African Cup of Nations competition in Senegal after failing the mandatory MRI test scans. These scans, which determine the age of the players, revealed discrepancies that led to their removal from the tournament. The disqualification follows changes to Article 27.4 of the U17 Africa Cup of Nations regulations, which have tightened the criteria and enforcement of age verification measures. The updated rules stipulate that if a team has more than four players deemed ineligible after the MRI eligibility test, the entire team will be disqualified. The MRI tests, used to enforce age restrictions in youth competitions, are crucial for ensuring fairness. Unfortunately, the teams from these three nations did not meet the age criteria, resulting in their disqualification. This decision has come as a significant disappointment for the young players and their fans, w...
