The Elephants of Ivory Coast secured a commanding 4-1 victory over Sierra Leone’s {Leone Stars } in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Friday night in San Pedro. Goals came from Nicolas Pepe, Franck Kessie who netted a brace, and Ousmane Diakite, while Sierra Leone's lone goal was scored by Alhassan Koroma.
Sierra Leone’s struggles in Group G continued, leaving them at the bottom of the table with only 1 point from three matches (two losses and one draw). The Leone Stars face an uphill battle as they prepare to host Ivory Coast for the return leg in Liberia on Tuesday, aiming to turn the tide and keep their slim hopes for AFCON qualification alive.
The match has set a high bar for the Leone Stars, as they must overcome this significant deficit to stay in contention for the 2025 tournament in Morocco.
