PRISON OFFICER MOBBED TO DEATH

Abdul Karim Koroma now decease met his untimely death on the 12th May 2019 at Masorkoh line in the Kholifa Rowalla Chiefdom, Tonkolili District in the hands of angry youths when he was mistakenly identified as a thief.

The decease Abdul Karim Koroma was one the intelligent Prison Officer attached at Mafanta Correctional Center in the Tonkolili District and before his death, he was a Discipline Officer (DO) a position he held and displayed his professionalizing vigilantly without fair or favour until Sunday 12th May 2019 when he met his untimely death in hands of five gallant youths alleged to have beat and later stone him to death.

According to Madam Fatmata Namasa Sankoh, she recalled on Sunday 12th May 2019 when she overheard a strange voice outside her window and immediately went there to identify what was going on only to her dismayed she saw the decease Abdul Karim Koroma in the mist of angry youths who she can identified beating the decease and also convicted him as a thief, she burst in to tears. 

She continued that she made frantic efforts to plead to the angry youths that the decease is not a thief but rather a prison officer attached at the Mafanta Correctional Center but all of them could not listen.

She concluded that the decease took his phone to called one of his superior when one of the youth forceful grabbed it and immediately they started kicking and pelting stones on the decease all over his body when finally the decease collapse in their hands and immediately she went home crying loudly wherein she met one of the decease superior Amadu Kamara and later explained how the decease face mobbed justices.

The deceased boss, Amadu Kamara immediately went to the scene but could not identify the decease as his physical face was seriously damage with blood oozing from it and immediately he called for police assistance, with the help of the Magburaka Police the deceased was convey to the Magburaka hospital when it was finally diagnosed by the medical doctor that the decease has pass away before coming to the government hospital
Five suspects, namely Henry Kargbo, Mohamed Bangura, James Kargbo, Joseph Kargbo and John Kargbo were arrested in connection with the murder of the decease Abdul Karim Koroma and later charged to court for the offence of Conspiracy to murder contrary to Section 4 of the Offence against the Person Act 1816 and Murder contrary to Law.

The accused persons were denied bail yesterday by the presiding magistrate Peter Gogra on his view that the matter is under preliminary investigation according to court proceedings.
