Wusum Stars hosts Mighty Blackpool in Makeni today

By: Alusine Rehme Wilson
Matches in the ongoing 2021-2022 Sierra Leone Premier League will continue today across the nation but the match between Wusum Stars Football Club of Bombali and Mighty Blackpool Football Club of Freetown remain the most talked about tie of all three games underway today in Koidu, Approved School and Makeni.

Both teams, Wusum Stars Football Club and Mighty Blackpool Football Club entered into today’s game with much pressure from their fans and will be looking forward to grabbing all three points from the day’s cracker.

This reality puts expectations and coaches stakes on the high as the Bombali based outfit looks thirsty to win today and further announce their return in the championship despite they are currently 5th on the league’s log with 34 points behind East End Tigers and FC Kallon with the same points but separated by goals.

Mighty Blackpool on the other hand are super determined to continue their impressive form in the second round of the championship after starting on a very bad form in this season’s first round. They are seated 10th place with 28 points after 21 games played so far in the ongoing Sierra Leone Premier League  but today’s cracker will have it all to decide who amongst the two sides will carry the day.

A win for the host will help them move two places upward to 3rd place with 37 points while a draw will also earn them a temporal stay to the same spot pending the match outcome of the other days game while a defeat will see the Bombali based outfit slip at least two places down the log which will help the visitors shoot upward the current teams standing two places upward to 8th place with 31 points but a draw will only keep them in the same spot while a defeat will let them slip at least three places downward.

England's all-time head-to-head record shows that they’ve played a whopping 1072 matches against 100 countries, won 615 games, drew 255, and lost 200. Senegal, on the other hand, is one of Africa’s most famous football nations, nicknamed the “Lions of Teranga.” In 2002, ...

Sierra Leone, Two other Nations disqualified from AFCON 2024 U17 Qualifiers

By: Abdulrahman Barrie The U17 football teams from Sierra Leone, Guinea, and Guinea Bissau have been disqualified from the 2024 U17 African Cup of Nations competition in Senegal after failing the mandatory MRI test scans. These scans, which determine the age of the players, revealed discrepancies that led to their removal from the tournament. The disqualification follows changes to Article 27.4 of the U17 Africa Cup of Nations regulations, which have tightened the criteria and enforcement of age verification measures. The updated rules stipulate that if a team has more than four players deemed ineligible after the MRI eligibility test, the entire team will be disqualified. The MRI tests, used to enforce age restrictions in youth competitions, are crucial for ensuring fairness. Unfortunately, the teams from these three nations did not meet the age criteria, resulting in their disqualification. This decision has come as a significant disappointment for the young players and their fans, w...
