Sierra Leonean Girls Redeemed

By: Ibrahim Jalloh - ( Jallomy ) Sierra Leone is suffering from a moral decline. The war came and went. Post war resettlement and rehabilitation priorities were vigorously pursued. We saw the disarmament and demobilization of combatants but what we never saw was the moral rearmament of our society. Sierra leonean girls were never spared the atrocities of the moral decay of our time. Sex related abuses of all types and kinds were the daily and frequent realities face by our girls. Efforts in the past to stem the tide sexual offences were paralyzed by uncoordinated actions and complete lack of the political will to redress the sexual aggression. The First lady of the republic, madam Fatima Bio, has taken action fuelled by the strongest political will in the history of sierra Leone to arrest a menace that will destroy our girls, the seeds of time and the investment of tomorrow. National hope for a great future will be diminished if our girls are left in the quadrangle of moral decay. ...

JOINT STATEMENT BY THE IMC AND SLAJ ON ISSUES RELATING TO THE OPERATION OF MEDIA INSTITUTIONS

Date: 24th September, 2019 The Chairman and Members of the Independent Media Commission (IMC) and the Executive members of the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ) on the 18th September 2019 met at the Commission’s Board Room at 54 Siaka Stevens Street in Freetown. It was the first meeting between the IMC and SLAJ following the election of the new executive. The Chairman of the Commission, Mr. George S. Khoryama, formally welcomed the new executive to the IMC and congratulated them on their election. The meeting discussed pertinent issues relating to the work of both institutions. They included the review of the current registration, licence and renewal fees for newspapers, radio and television stations, and Direct to Home Services (DTH). Ministry of Information to look into SLAJ, SWASAL and other Releases

SIERRA LEONE GOVERNMENT MINISTRY OF INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATIONS 8TH FLOOR, YOUYI BUILDING, FREETOWN PRESS STATEMENT RE: ALLEGED BEATING OF JOURNALISTS The attention of Government has been drawn to Press Statements issued by the Sports Writers Association (SWASAL), Women in the Media Sierra Leone (WIMSAL) and Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ) on allegations levied against security personnel attached to the President during the Sierra Leone – Liberia football encounter on Sunday September 8, 2019. Government has taken note of the concerns and the content of the press releases issued by the aforementioned bodies.
