SLFA President: “As Soon as the Subvention Hits the FA’s Account, the Ball will roll”

The Acting President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), Brima Manzola Kamara has confirmed to this writer, that the National FA-Cup competition is underway.

He made this revelation, few hours after a very successful outcome from a meeting between the country’s Football governing body (SLFA), and the Central Government that was held in State house in the country’s capital city, Freetown, where the FA’s proposal for the National FA Cup was presented and acknowledged duly with commitment made by representatives of the Government of Sierra Leone at the meeting to provide fund for the competition to kick start Nationwide soonest.

According to the FA’s President, the meeting is a testament to show how determined and collaborative the country’s Football Association is, in ensuring that the ball rolls at every corner of the Sierra Leone. He affirmed that he is sure that the National 2019 FA-Cup competition will commence soonest, and over 200 teams from all the regions in the country will compete in this year’s league.

He also, said that: “All that was holding the FA back from organizing leagues is lack of fund. He continued strictly by urging once again, regional football Chairmen to be on their toes robustly, to ensure that: they all work hands in gloves with the SLFA Secretariat to ensure that the 2019 FA-Cup becomes another positive landmark in the football history of this great nation under his leadership as Acting President of the SLFA.

Going further Mr. Kamara reiterated that the football family and all well-wishers of the game that we all love: Football should be ready to support their favorite teams for he believes strongly that: sooner the government subvention hits the FA’s account the Ball will roll countrywide”.

Bringing the FA-Cup since 2017 when it was last played under the leadership of Isha Johansen as President of the FA, who is currently under ACC Nest on forensic investigation for alleged corruption, Mr. Karama has described as a match towards the lifting of the FIFA Ban, and emphatically he has made strong commitment of the FA through this medium, that: the 2019 FA-Cup is set to benefit the Youths that have chose football as their career mostly.

Staff of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), Representatives from the Ministry of Sports, other MDAs and a cross section of football Stakeholders was in attendance at the statehouse meeting.
