As the name implied “COMMONERS” they were like chief minister to former President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma and were highly respected. It’s interesting to note that most of the so-called commoners came during the political harvest time and succeeded to pave their way in the political lime light of the Ernest Bai Koroma government under the name of childhood connectivity.
Some of the commoners (chief advisers) were political prostitutes during the early days of president Koroma struggled for presidency but resurfaced immediately when President Koroma took an oath of office as President of the republic of Sierra Leone.
The commoners succeeded to win the heart of President Koroma during his second term of office because the president too believed in the doctrine of “connectivity” the concept of connectivity was misunderstood by the average commoners who later became more of a contractors than an advisers to the President Koroma to attest to this claim several contracts were dished out to the commoners by all the Local Councils in the northern Region including Waterloo Rural and some of these contracts has not been completed.
In fact, the commoners became more influential and automatically take leadership role especially in taking decision on behalf of the All People’s Congress (APC).
The president candid view about the commoners where like brothers who we never part away with him but their Judas behavior was to reap for their selfish and personal interest at the expense of those who suffer for the party during struggle days.
Many youth were deliberately abandon by the commoners because some were outright people who do not compromised their integrity.
Another surprising about the commoners, the were graduated in destroying people by pointing fingers at them as “not true APC” but one might ask were was this commoners during the struggled days, and what role did they play in the SLPP government under the late President Tejan Kabba?
This medium has evidence of the fact that some commoners were party ticket career of SLPP and under that regime took the Matotoka and Makeni Water Project Contract but unfortunately it was a failed project.
Under president Koroma’s regime, one of the commoner was given a contract to construct Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority (SLRSA) Regional office in Makeni but unfortunately that contract has not been commission because all the facilities as prescribed in the contract agreement are not visible.
As a result of this connectivity doctrine, President Koroma single handedly without consultation with the party, imposed them to some executive position within the party.
This connectivity as adopted in by President Koroma leadership prompted the Commoners to be awarded several contracts and in return sublets these contracts to other contractors.
Finally, the commoners were the brain behind the established of road fund institution from the office of Sierra Leone Road Authority.
Immediately this institution was established the commoners started to remote most of the feeder roads projects to themselves and friends through the local councils and as a result most of the feeder road projects took a natural death with nothing to write.
If prosperity will judge us, one may wondered why Salini Construction Company was kicked out in Makeni and replace with TSR Construction company, a construction company that do even have a laboratory.
The answered to this allegation is because Salini as the reputable company deliberately denied to dish out kicks-back or grease their corruptive palm.
