Pepper Tribes Timbo “Rescues Kuwait City Natives”

The constructed water well project according is Amadu Wurie Timbo was sponsored by Wendy Ward, a member of the Pepper Tribe a Non-Governmental organization that is based in abroad with quest of establishing its branch in Makeni for Sierra Leone which has two farming sites already in Makeni. 45 Matriculates and 20 Graduated at African Accents International Institute

By: Alusine Rehme Wilson – (AR-Wilson) On Saturday, June 8, 2019, African Accents International Institute at its campus situated at Timbo area, along the Makeni-Kabala Highway in the Bombali District, Northern Province of Sierra Leone has staged its first ever matriculation and graduation ceremony for its students, since the college was established in 2016. The day’s doubled packed ceremony all started with a match past from the central business area of Makeni City around the clock tower to the institute’s campus at Timbo area, along the Makeni-Kabala Highway where the occasion was called to order by the Deputy Registrar Mr. Foday Kargbo, who introduced the chairman of the occasion Mr. Alex Kapotho Kamara, who also doubled as the Registrar of the institute. PRISON OFFICER MOBBED TO DEATH

AT POLICE ACADEMY… POLICE OFFICER IMPREGNATE MINOR

Bangah A police constable PC 14704 Abu Bakarr Koroma attached at the Sierra Leone Police Academy at Makump Bana Village in the Bombali Sebore Chiefdom, Bombali District was yesterday arraigned in court before the presiding Magistrate Peter Gogra for the offence of Sexual Penetration of a child contrary to section 19 of the Sexual Offences Act No 12 of 2012 including Sexual Touching and Meeting of a Child for sexual purposed. According to the minor testimony at the Family Support Unit in Makeni, she disclosed that she is fifteen (15) years of age and she stayed with her grandmother. That said, the core elements of democracy are people centeredness in governance, the right to belong and be part of a political shade of opinion, loosely called political party and, of course, the right to aspire for a political position including but not limited to the presidency of a state as prescribed in a document intentionally called the constitution.  Democracy is mostly a theoretical construct and its applicability varies from state to state; therefore its universal relevance cannot be consistent across states in the world.  For some countries in the world, that which is called democracy is nothing but a hopeless political ideal. A beautiful example of such a country is North Korea, a country where some few years ago, the country’s Premier was executed under the expressed order of the country’s leader for sleeping during a meeting presided over by the leader. ...

AID-SL CAPACITATES STAKEHOLDERS TO MITIGATE CLIMATE CHANGE

By: Summner Komngbap With funds from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the Advocacy Initiative for Development – Sierra Leone (AID-SL) has engaged key stakeholders in Kambia and Kono Districts on Adaptive Capacities of Climate Change on Water Services. This was disclosed on Friday 4th July 2019 by the Executive Director of AID-SL, Sylvanus Murray at his 17 Circular Road office in Freetown. He enlightened that since 2012, AID-SL has been working extensively with the UNDP in enriching and transforming lives and communities in Sierra Leone, that in April 2019, AID-SL successfully solicited funding from UNDP to implement an engagement titled:   ‘Awareness Raising on Adaptive Capacities of Water Services to Climate Change” in both Kono and Kambia Districts between April and July 2019 adding that AID/SL, in close collaboration with Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in both districts, identified and mobilized the project communities, the beneficiaries. ...

MoU Signed for Computerized Payment System For Tertiary Institutions

By: Summner Komngbap The Ministry of Finance on Friday 12 th July 2019 signed the Memorandum of Understanding with universities and teacher training colleges in the country for a computerized payment system for academic, administrative and other staff at an impressive ceremony held at the Ministry’s conference room, George Street in Freetown. According to the Minister of Finance, Jacob Jusu Saffa, the new payment system would ensure prompt payment of salaries and other allowances for staff of universities and teacher training colleges nationwide as their salaries, transport, medical and leave allowances would be paid directly into their accounts articulating that government wants to effectively manage the payroll, the reason the Ministry of Education was separated into two but lamented that a new Ministry is very difficult to start. FAO Organized a 2-day Workshop for Traditional Leaders and Local Authorities on Gender and Land Rights

By: Summner Komngbap The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations with the International Labour Organization (ILO), in collaboration with the Government of Sierra Leone with support from the Peace Building Fund (PBF), on Thursday 11th July 2019 concluded a 2-days workshop on Gender and Land Rights within the framework of implementing the PBF project on  'Creating Peaceful Societies Through Women's Improved Access to Management of Natural Resources, Land Tenure Rights and Economic Empowerment in Sierra Leone.' The workshop brought together over 40 stakeholder and traditional authorities from four (4) districts of Bombali (North), Port Loko (North West), Bo (South) and Kenema (East) were the project is being implemented.
