Media Stakeholders in the North meets with Former President Koroma

By: Williamina Burah Dumbuya
Media stakeholders in the northern region of Sierra Leone met with the former president of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma at his residence in the small agrarian community of Robuya in the city of Makeni on Thursday, March 12, 2020.

The meeting was largely informal with the objective of engaging the former president to get a sense of his national view on the state of affairs in the country and his recommendations on the way forward.

The visiting Team numbered five eminent and strategically positioned individuals with tested and reliable knowledge on the social, economic and political history of the northern region of Sierra Leone.

The Team was subjected to less protocols and security checks. A well dressed and obviously confident and reassured police personnel interrogated us and admitted us into the compound.

The scenery was awesome and characteristically natural. We drove up to the reception and got in. The receptionist was obviously well fed, highly professional and strategically placed. We were ushered into the small but correspondingly well- equipped office of the former president.

The meeting lasted for close to an hour. The former president was relaxed and abundantly confident with a copious willingness to share his enormous experience with his country men and women.

Key messages underscored by the president pointed to the absolute need for cooperative governance, fostering national cohesion, supporting women and marginalized groups. The event was awesome but mutually reinforcing.

Former president Koroma thinks that the economy is in a bad shape and with the roaring Coronavirus; Sierra Leoneans must work tirelessly to ensure all must work towards supporting a chronically challenging intervention.

Former president Koroma stated that he was ready and willing to do all in his power to reverse the trends.
