MAMA DIOP: Senegal’s Sensation

Senegalese Mama Diop began her football journey in Senegal at a tender age of six years before she joined Dorades De MBon in 2010 on free transfer. She later singed for Toulouse FC in 2015 before joining AS Saint Louisienne in 2017 where she had a successful spell scoring 13 goals from sixteen games played to emerge highest goal scorer of the 2018 Senegal Women’s league and left Toulouse FC comfortable above relegation zone.

Diop’s improving performance attracted France based second division side ARRAS Club to chase for her signature and finally succeeds to win the winger’s mind and former club to complete her transfer to the club in July 2018 where she is currently plying her professional career.


“I’m happy to win the best player award and for taking part in the WAFU A’ Women’s tournament just two years after, I played against Ivory Coast in the WAFU B’. The exposure and experiences from these competitions will help me and my Senegalese teammates to step up against future opponents we will face in subsequent tournaments” she told Northern Times.


The Senegalese international exhibited brilliance and maturity for her side throughout the tournament with a player of the match award against Guinea in a 1-0 win in their opener and Senegal beating Mali 3-0 in the grand finale on Saturday (7th March 2020) to be crowned champions of the WAFU A’ Women’s championship hosted in Sierra Leone.

Makeni Medical Mission Brings Hope and Healing to Bombali District
