Action to Heal Foundation Donates to Vulnerable Children in Bombali

At its head office at 21 Conteh Street in Makeni, leading humanitarian organization Action to Heal Foundation Sierra Leone (A2HF-SL) on October 4, 2020 supported 40 Vulnerable and physically challenged school going pupils in Bombali district with assorted learning materials plus financial funding in their second “Back to School Donation”
 
The donation marks the foundation’s second educational helping hand provided to vulnerable and physically challenged school going pupils in the country since it was established in 2019 by way of complimenting Government’s Free Quality Education drive.

In her welcome address, Zainab Mummy Tholley, the Foundation and CEO-I called on parents and beneficiaries to accept the donation and use it judiciously. 

She further disclosed that this year’s donation is bigger than the previous one and that dozens of books, pens, sharpeners, erasers, rulers, a black board and the sum of Le 100,000 each will be given to the best JSS pupil promoted to JSS-3 and three of the best NPSE pupils to assist their parents to cover school their school color costs.

According to A2HF-SL Secretary General, Miatta Saffa out of its fifty enlisted vulnerable and physically challenged children the foundation has been providing educational and other support to only forty beneficiaries  were catered for in this year’s back to school package as a result of poor academic performances from the ten pupils who failed to promote.

“Despite the outbreak of the novel corona virus which has affected not only affected the country’s economy but ours as well, we are sticking to our course of ensuring that we continue to put smiles in the faces of the physically challenged children in the country. 
“Thanks to our members for their unshakable support which had indeed played vital roles in resource mobilization for this year’s project.” she remarked.

Yusuf Sow, the CEO II in his remarks highlighted some of the successes and major challenges of the foundation. He said in less than two years they have conducted a research and were able to identify and register fifty most vulnerable and physically challenged children in Bombali to their foundation and since January year, they have been providing uncountable assistance to disable persons and other vulnerable persons in the district.

“Raising finances to carry out some of our projects is among the major challenges our foundation is faced with. We have approached a number of organizations for partnership to beef up our operations but we are yet to receive correspondence from none, this is why we are doing all these by ourselves to keep our foundation’s mission and vision alive” he noted. 

The Auditor General, Theresa Kamara assisted other members to present the various Back to School packages to the beneficiaries.
Among the beneficiary, 12-year old James Conteh of the Pentecostal Primary School in Makeni received an extra sum of Le 100,000 from A2HF-SL apart from other assorted school materials for haven scored a Grade of 307 in the last National Primary School Examination making his the best pupil out of the fifty pupils the foundation is supporting.

Speaking on behalf of beneficiaries parents Madam Memunatu Jalloh offered prayers and expressed delights to Action to Heal Foundation Sierra Leone for their immense humanitarian assistances to her daughter and other physically challenged children in the district. She also called on other good will organizations to compliment A2HF-SL efforts.

Makeni Medical Mission Brings Hope and Healing to Bombali District
