Kambia District Organizes Heroic Welcome for Sierra Leone Goalkeeper Today

For performing admirably at the 2021-TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations finals while representing his home country, Sierra Leone’s first choice goalkeeper Mohamed Nbalie Kamara is set to be given a heroic welcome today in his home district Kambia, the Kambia District Football Association has confirmed.

According to Morlai Gbla, the Public Relations Officer of the Kambia District Football Association, goalkeeper Mohamed Kamara who is expected to arrive at Bamoi Luma at 10:00am today will be received by the district’s Football family amongst others at the Mange checkpoint which is situated between the boundary areas of Port Loko and Kambia District in the Northwest region of Sierra Leone.

“Kamara will be given a heroic welcome from Mange checkpoint to Bamoi Luma, Rokupr Khalizha and finally to his village, Sendugu, a village located a few miles off the Sierra Leone international market Bamoi Luma.

There he will stay for a while and in the evening hours will also be accompanied on a convoy to Kambia Town, the District Headquarter town where a friendly match organized in his honor will be played at the Kambia Mini Stadium at 4:30pm between Kambia Town All Stars versus Bamoi Luma All Stars Football teams, as a show of the entire district’s happiness and gratitude to one of our own who’s representing our country as well as our district very well.” Concluded the district’s FA spokesman, Morlai Gbla.

Today’s event will mark the second to be organized for the Sierra Leone first choice Goalkeeper after he was first welcome seven months ago in the same district after the Leone Stars of Sierra Leone defeated their Benin counterparts 1-0 at the General Lansana Conteh Stadium in their last AFCON qualifiers Group-L match which earned them an automatic qualification to the continental showpiece for the first time since 1996.

However, it’s they believe of many sports followers that goalkeeper Mohamed Nbalie Kamara deserved such honor and even more to further motivate him in the course of his goalkeeping career, for he has already marketed himself during his AFCON debut with Leone Stars, made seven clean saves and won the man of the match award against Africa reigning champions Algeria as well as his outstanding display against Ivory Coast to the extent, saved a decisive penalty  in that match.
