By: Alusine Rehme Wilson
Former Diamond Stars Forward Santhawahaj Bangura was the hero of Friday's Sierra Leone Premier League match between host FC Johansen and visitors from Kenema, Kamboi Eagles Football Club as the new FC Johansen sensational forward netted three times against the Eagles to earn his maiden men's top-tier hat-trick and help his team move top places upwards from 8th to 6th place in the ongoing National Men's championship.

The FC Johanson's forward shocked the visitors after he opened his goal account in the match eight-(8) minutes on to put his side in front and in the second half of the encounter added a second and a third before the quarter hour mark which gifted his side a comfortable 3-0 win against their day's opponent Kamboi Eagles Football Club. Speaking to Pressmen in a post match interview at the Wusum Stadium in Makeni city after his team's loud win Santhawahaj Bangura expressed great delights for achieving such a feat and thanked his teammates for assisting him to be able to make such history for the club.

"I am glad to join the list of top goal scorers in my new club and overall give thanks to God, our Head coach, teammates and fans." Last Friday's 3-0 win is so far the highest so far for "the Dream Chasers" in this year's championship and the second out of five matches played in the second and final round of this season's Sierra Leone Men's Premier League. For FC Johansen's new Head coach Ibrahim Sillah the win which has helped his team to move from 8th to 6th place in the League table with a total of 34 points earned from 22 games played so far is s moral buster for his players heading into their next League match against Bombali district based outfit Wusum Stars Football Club.

England's all-time head-to-head record shows that they’ve played a whopping 1072 matches against 100 countries, won 615 games, drew 255, and lost 200. Senegal, on the other hand, is one of Africa’s most famous football nations, nicknamed the “Lions of Teranga.” In 2002, ...

Sierra Leone, Two other Nations disqualified from AFCON 2024 U17 Qualifiers

By: Abdulrahman Barrie The U17 football teams from Sierra Leone, Guinea, and Guinea Bissau have been disqualified from the 2024 U17 African Cup of Nations competition in Senegal after failing the mandatory MRI test scans. These scans, which determine the age of the players, revealed discrepancies that led to their removal from the tournament. The disqualification follows changes to Article 27.4 of the U17 Africa Cup of Nations regulations, which have tightened the criteria and enforcement of age verification measures. The updated rules stipulate that if a team has more than four players deemed ineligible after the MRI eligibility test, the entire team will be disqualified. The MRI tests, used to enforce age restrictions in youth competitions, are crucial for ensuring fairness. Unfortunately, the teams from these three nations did not meet the age criteria, resulting in their disqualification. This decision has come as a significant disappointment for the young players and their fans, w...
