​NCG, Makenians, others Mourns Cherished Chef Alhaji “Papani”

Residents of Makeni city, Northern-Sierra Leone are still mourning the death of the late Alhaji Morlai Dumbuya alias “Papani” who lost his life on Friday, 29th April, 2022 at Gbomsamba after being involved in a fatal road crash.

He was 38 and remains one of the most popular cooks from Makeni city who has over the years been positively impacting the lives of other youths working at his restaurant and catering company.

The cherished chef, who also doubled as the proprietor of Papa restaurants in Makeni city as well as the National Grand Coalition-(NGC) Bombali District Chairman was on his way to Freetown to buy cooking condiments to prepare food on Eid-ul-Fitr for his multiple customers that have hired his catering services to serve food at numerous gathering including 18 Imams at KAMYIKS Pray-day feasting.

On pray-day the Muslim Jamaats in Makeni offered prayers for him and was being hailed for being humble and friendly.


Last Friday, he was heroically buried at the Makeni cemetery with hundreds of sympathizers including Executive representatives and supporters of the National Grand Coalition led by Honorable Kandeh Kolleeh Yumkell and his party’s National Chairman Dr. Dennis Bright among others who turned out at his funeral ceremony.

Prior to his burial, a book of condolence was opened at the NGC Bombali District Secretariat for the fallen district party chairman whose efforts in ensuring the party’s membership in the district grew from strength to strength during his reign remains not tattered.

“Gone but not forgotten” is the highlight of pouring tributes from both residents of Makeni and others across the northern region city that are still mourning the death of the decorated cook Alhaji Morlai “Papani” Dumbuya on and off social media.
