Ngowahun Chiefdom Tribal Authorities goes to the pool today

Over Four Hundred Tribal Authorities-(TA) from 94 villages in Ngowahun Chiefdom will converge today at the Kalangba Community Center to Elect a new Chiefdom Paramount Chief, the Senior District Officer has confirmed. 


The development follows a historic peaceful declaration ceremony that was held for twelve Aspirants contesting for the Chiefdom’s top seat.


During the ceremony which was held three weeks ago at the Kalangba Community Center, the Provincial Secretary of the Northeast region Simenon Fatoma cleared all 12 aspirants eligible to contest for the prestigious Ngowahun Chiefdom PC seat today(4th June, 2022).


The twelve candidates aspiring for the Chiefdom’s Paramount Chieftaincy are: 

Abubakarr Osai Kamara, Briama Osaio Kamara, Umaru Osaio Kamara, Tamboura Osai Kamara, Foday Baimba Osaio Kamara, Kombo Osai Kamara, Salifu Kamara, Sorieba Osai Kamara, Foday Amara Kamara, Thomas Robert Kanu, Joseph Kanu and Foday Amara Kamara from the Kamara and Kanu ruling houses.


As the people of Ngowahun Chiefdom goes into the pool today, AWE-MEDIA.SL interviewed both the Provincial Secretary of the North East Region Simenon Fatoma and the Senior District Officer Abubakarr Kamara about their expectations from the anticipated elections. 


They replied, “We’re confident that there will be total peace in today’s election based on the peaceful conduct of the people of Ngowahun in the last three weeks during the deceleration process, yet we are calling on them to maintain similar spirit on the pooling day.”


Asked further about preparation, they said “the much needed preparations has been done as prescribed in the Local Government Act. Voters, security and coordination with other partners including the Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone has been amicably made for the conduct of a peaceful, free, and fair election.”

Yoni Chiefdom Crowns Journalist Richmond Tholley as Ceremonial Chief
