Southern Region FA Wraps up Maiden Men’s Super-10 in Style

The Southern Region football Association has on Tuesday 9th August 2022 successfully wrapped up its first ever mens Super-10 for the 2021/2022 League season at the Coronation field in Bo in style.

The closing brought together notable names in nation’s football family including the Vice President 1 of the Sierra Leone Football Association Mr Harold Nat-Johnson, Southern Region Football Association Chairman Sardick Deen-Nyarkoh and his Exco-Members, Football Stakeholders, Spectators,  Security personnel, Cultural Dance Troupe and The Press among others.

This year’s edition featured winners Edmond Michael Foundation, Runners up Rutile Rangers, Sea Side Rangers, Clockers United, Limo Fc, Ram Kay, United Stars, Alma Fc, Wanjama Stars and Zion Fc.

Dilating on the introduction of the super 10 league across the country, Vice President 1 of the Sierra Leone Football Association Mr Harold Nat Johnson said, the super 10 league is the flagship program of their Executive that won the June 5th Election in Makeni. 

He Continued, it was very difficult for the various regions to accept the concept of the super 10 because it's a system that will regulate the the existing football clubs but the Executive took into consideration lot of things like, the numerous first division teams in every district and decided to select ten quality and structured teams in all regions that will be playing for promotion and relegation so Sierra Leone can set an international standard in our football system. 

He also thanked the Southern Region Football Association for a job well done describing the the league "A very Successful Tournament.”


On his part, Chairman Southern Region Football Association Mr Sadick Deen-Nyarkoh informed the super 10 league is an accomplishment of the  vision of the President of Sierra Leone Football Association Mr Thomas Daddy Brima. 

" Today we have had our qualifiers that will represent us in the National First Division Play-off, Edmond Michael Foundation came first and Rutile Rangers second just before we end the program CAF has announced that Bo Rangers will be playing Chabab Belouizdad in the Champions League this is a big new and achievement for us in the Southern Region.

He thanked all teams that competed in the Competition for their efforts. He appealed to the Sierra Leone Football Association to consider giving seed money to teams in the subsequent super 10 leagues. He promised on behalf of his Executive to give their maximum support to the two qualifiers in the Southern Region.


Speaking to the Medium after receiving Medals and Trophy, Patrick Uzoh Assistant Coach 1 of Edmond Michael Foundation noted they are overwhelmed with happiness as things has been going on well since they took over. He said they are hopeful of premier league qualification. He thanked their fans for standing by them in good and bad times.

Edmond Michael Foundation has been eliminated twice in the first division play-off (losing to RSLAF 4-2 in 2013 and 2-1 on aggregate to wanjama stars in 2021 play-offs preliminary).

Mustapha Bao the Secretary General of Rutile Rangers emphatically stated that the qualification is not a surprise thing for them as they have been there once. "We have complete trust in our team and am hopeful we will qualify for the top flight league in Sierra Leone.”


Elsewhere in the league two times national play-offs side Sea Side Rangers forward Joseph Cole won the golden boot after finding the back of the net 14 times in the league, Edmond Michael Foundation goalkeeper Mohamed Bangura won the Goalkeeper glove.


Meanwhile, the super 10 league second leg was funded by LEADWAY company owned by the CEO of Bo Rangers Mr Babadi Kamara was singled out for praise for co- funding the second leg after giant companies within the region had turned down request for funding.
