N/E Region Police commended for keeping Inter-Divisional Sport Meeting 100% Apolitical

The Sierra Leone Police in the North East Region on Thursday were applauded by spectators for keeping their 2022 Inter-Divisional Sport Meeting 100% apolitical.

Of all the four houses in the Police sport meet, the traditional Green and Red colors that are commonly been attributed to the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party-(SLPP) and the main oppositions All People’s Congress-(APC) parties were missing.

Some of the spectators that witnessed the sports meetings said the decision by the Sierra Leone Police in the region was exemplary and urged heads of academic and other institutions to copy the Police model in a bid to end the  unhealthy contests that is normally mounted over the politicization of the green and red colors at most sport meetings.

Meanwhile, the Athletics challenge organized to celebrate the 2022 Police week was competed by eight Police units in the Northeast region placed into four house colors consisting of two units each, was won by the Makeni/Regional Headquarter in Yellow with 137 points, followed by the Panlap/Kamakwie units in Sky Blue while the Magburaka/Mile 91 and the Kabala/Mongor units in Blue and Orange finished on 3rd and 4th position.

Disturbing snail space Civil works in the Makeni Central Lorry park

By: Ibrahim Jalloh - (Jallomy) The Makeni City Council (MCC) ordered commercial vehicles and business entities to leave the park area for the purpose of upgrading the park. Two weeks were given as the duration of the work. Regrettably, a week plus few days have elapsed with no significant work done. Drivers and business people in the park are completely frustrated and their livelihoods threatened.  Few years ago, drivers and traders were asked out of the park for similar reason but after two weeks they were asked to return to the park with no work done. This was disrespectful and insulting.  We urge MCC to double their efforts as the affected persons are running out of patience.
