Ahead of today’s first leg meeting between Sierra Leone’s Brand Global Football Ambassador Antonio Rudiger side Real Madrid and his former club Chelsea in the quarter finals of the champion’s league at Santiago Bernabeu, the celebrated defender has reacted to the anticipated clash. Rudiger, who won the Champions League in 2021 with the Blues before signing for Real Madrid, has told Marca that: “The Chelsea team I played for is nothing like the current team. But what is clear to me is that the match will be tough, they have plenty of quality players.” The German/Sierra Leonean footballer and founder of Antonio Rudiger Charitable Foundation for sports and education remains upbeat that his current team will edge his former club but believes they’ll have a good run for their money. With the return leg set for Tuesday, 18th April at Chelsea’s 40,341 capacity Stamford Bridge stadium both sides will be hoping to return to winning ways in their first meeting behind their respective league games defeats in the Spanish La Liga and the English Premier League against Villarreal and Wolves United letting Real Madrid with 59 points in 2nd place, 12 points behind league leaders while Chelsea sit on 11th place with 39 points.
