Ten Sierra Leonean journalists have been appointed as Brand Ambassadors by leading independent fact-checking agency Dubawa for an upcoming fact checking and non-violence campaign starting on June 5.
Based in Bo, Freetown, Kenema, Kono and Makeni, the ten ambassadors included five males and five females working for several electronics, print and online Sierra Leone based media institutions. They will be embarking on a month-long public fact checking and non-violence streets campaigns in their respective locations from June 5 to July 5 this year, according to Dubawa-Sierra Leone Fact-checker and researcher Fayia J. Moseray.
The overall rationale of the upcoming campaign in the five different locations is to sensitize locals on the ways to identify, check or report about News or information they are doubtful about to Dubawa through it social media pages to amplify positive changes with the desire to end the spread of Fake News, misinformation and disinformation in Sierra Leone before and after the nation’s general elections.
