Foray: We’re ready to fight and make Sierra Leone Proud

By: Alusine Rehme Wilson
Sierra Leone back-to-back Premier League champion’s coach Alhaji “Abedi” Foray remains confident his side is well prepared to fight to beat LISCR in Liberia and progress to the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League next round. In their first leg, Foray’s side was forced to a 1-1 draw at their 6,000 capacity Southern Area stadium in Bo, Southern Sierra Leone by their resilient Mano River Union (MRU) neighbours LISCR last weekend.
But Foray has confidence his charges will pay off at the Liberian SKD Sports complex against the host in their continental champions cup preliminary qualifier return leg match. “We regretted sharing the spoils at home especially when we took the lead just two minutes on, but we’ve put that result behind our back, and are now well prepared and ready to fight for a win on Sunday and make Sierra Leone proud,” Foray said.
“LISCR fought back from a 1-0 defeat, equalized and forced us to a 1-1 draw in our home. Now is our turn to rebound in front of their home crowd with a resounding win that will earn us a ticket to the next round, to show them we can do better than them.”
The reigning Sierra Leone Premier League champions who won last season’s title unbeaten must ensure to put out an impressive show by avoiding a barren draw, and must bang in goals against the host to keep their TotalEnergies CAF Champions League journey thriving. Irrespective of their 1-1 draw at home, the 45-year-old who’s famous back home for leading Sierra Leone clubs to continental competitions, will be banking on his players assurance for a win and his desired 3-5-2 approach to pay off in Sunday’s crunch clash. Ranger’s skipper Saidu Bah Kamara shares similar optimism that the Southern region Elephants will shine in Liberia, saying their camp is lively and determined to defend their team badge and raise their country’s flag higher in the continental race.
Kamara knows LISCR will give them a good run for their money on Sunday but has braved his teammates to stay focused on their sole goal of securing a result that will see them off to the second round of this year’s CAF Champions League race. However, the return leg clash promises to be exciting showdowns as both teams strive to secure a place in the next round of the competition.
